Monument Stonecutter / Stonemason
Location: Glasnevin and other cemeteries as required
Hours: 39 per week
Reporting to: Glasnevin Cemetery Monuments Production Manager
Overview
Glasnevin Cemetery Monument Works Ltd. seeks a full-time Monument Stonecutter / Stonemason. The role involves creating and restoring monuments, including carving, shaping, polishing, and lettering, while adhering strictly to health and safety standards.
The post holder will ensure safe, high-quality work both in the yard and on-site, provide excellent customer service, and mentor an apprentice, including training oversight and maintaining accurate progress records.
Essential Requirements
- QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft – Stonecutting & Stonemasonry
- Experience handling and moving heavy items safely
- Ability to interpret work orders and specifications
- Skilled in carving, shaping, polishing, and lettering
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Good organisational and administrative skills
- Experience using machinery and tools
- Understanding of health and safety protocols
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Full, clean driver’s licence
Desirable
- Full, clean C1 driver’s licence
- Knowledge of SAP systems and memorial styles
- Experience with sign-writing software and plotters
- Experience using AutoCAD
